Charlie Haas is an American professional wrestler who wrestled in the WWE (2000-2009), and Ring of Honor (2010-2013). He is well known for forming a formidable tag team with fellow wrestler Shelton Benjamin. He was also a member of the Team Angle, formed by the legendary Kurt Angle, one of the best technical wrestlers in the world.

Haas began amateur wrestling in his college days. He even got a wrestling scholarship to study at Seton Hall University, South Orange, New Jersey. He joined professional wrestling in 1996, teaming with his brother Russ.

The duo won several championship titles in the independent circuit such as CZW World Tag Team Championship and JAPW Tag Team Championship.

Charlie Haas was born Charles Doyle Haas ll on 27th March 1972 in Edmond, Oklahoma, United States of America. He grew up alongside his brother Russ who was also a professional wrestler. Racially, he is an American by nationality belonging to the white ethnicity.

The wrestler must have had an interest in wrestling while growing up. Which was why he started as an amateur wrestler. He sees education as an important aspect of his life, so he didn’t sacrifice it for his passion.

Instead, he chased the two. He got a wrestling scholarship at Seton Hall University, where he wrestled and studied at the same time. While at Seton, he won the Big East Championship twice and graduated with a degree in economics and business.

Charlie Haas has a net worth of $1.5 to $9 million. The former collegiate wrestler who began professional wrestling in 1996 made the money throughout his career. The media revealed the average salary of a WWE wrestler to be somewhere around $500,000 annually. While elite wrestlers make a million bucks a year.

So, looking at that, Haas wrestled in the WWE from 2000 to 2009. If he earned averagely, then it means, he received about $4.5 million for the 9-year stint in WWE. If they paid him as an elite or professional wrestler, he must have earned $9 million in the WWE.

1. Charlie Haas Career Summary

He officially began wrestling in 1996 in the Independent Circuit. Haas and his brother Russ teamed and became known as The Haas Brothers, winning the JAPW Tag Team Championship twice in 1998 and 1999. They won it the first time beating The Skin Head Express, and the second time by beating The Big Unit.

They also defeated the Kashmerino Brothers and The Thrill Kill Kult to win CZW World Tag Team Championship in 2000. That same year they pen down a developmental deal with WWE, working their way through the tag ranks of the division’s developmental territories. They won the MCW Southern Tag Team Championship a year after joining the WWE.

His brother Russ had a heart attack and passed on. Haas continued to fight alone in dark matches. He later wrestled on the main WWE stage for the first time in Tag Team alongside Shelton Benjamin to help Kurt Angle keep his title. This marked the birth of the greatest tag team in the world.

Later on, He also formed a tag team with Rico in 2004, winning the WWE Tag Team Championship. However, WWE let go of him a year later, and he returned to the Independent circuit. While there, he competed in the East Coast Wrestling Association (ECWA) Super 8 tournament, reaching the final, but Davey Richards beat him to win.

The years 2006 to 2013 were marked by on and off return to the WWE and the Independent Circuit. He also won the following championships before his on and off retirement. They include JAPW New Jersey State Championship, NWA Texas Heavyweight Championship, and the FWE Heavyweight Championship.

2. His Marriage To Jackie Gayda Ended After 15 Years

He fell in love with fellow wrestler Jackie Gayda. The love affair leads to marriage. The wrestlers got married on the 10th of June 2005.

However, the marriage ended after 15 years of marital bliss. Haas revealed that he and Gayda are no longer together. They divorced in 2020.

3. Charlie Haas Dropped Some Weight

The former WWE wrestler revealed he had dropped some weight in an interview. He now weighs 215 pounds, attributing it to his intention to go back to amateur wrestling. So, he has been meeting with kids from high schools, colleges, and even those dropping by.

4. Worked With Goldman Sachs

The degree Haas gained in economics and business from Seton Hall University enable him to get a job with Goldman Sachs. He worked there briefly as a stockbroker. That was before he became a professional wrestler.

5. He Fought Viscera To Gain Garcia’s Affection 

Lilian Garcia suffered a sprained wrist because of an accident involving her and Hass. He mistakenly knocked her out of the ring in 2006 while making his way in. A rivalry ensued between him and Viscera, who used to be Garcia’s Kayfabe.

Because of the accident, they fought hard for Garcia’s affection in the ring. But, it was Garcia who put a stop to the fight by telling them she just wants to be a friend.

6. Charlie Haas Is A JAPW Inductee 

The wrestler got inducted into the JAPW Hall of Fame in October 2007. They inducted him alongside his deceased brother Russ to its first-class category.

Charlie Haas is a father of 4 children. He had them with his ex-wife Jackie Gayda. Gayda gave birth to their first child, Kayla in 2006, the second Taylor in 2008, the third Thomas in 2010, and the last Charles in 2012.
