Harry Christopher Caray III was born in St. Louis, Missouri, the US on the 27th of February 1965. He is currently 59 years old.
His father (Skip Caray) divorced his mother (Lila Haberberger) when he was 4 years of age. While he grew up in St. Louis, his father moved to Atlanta for a new job where he became the fresh voice of NBA’s “Braves” and “Hawks”
Chip, as he is popularly called, chose his career after he heard his father call of a Bob Watson home run off Steve Howe in a Braves 1983 game.
Career
From Parkway High school, Chip went on and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism from the prestigious University of Georgia in 1987.
He worked at some television stations in Greensboro, North Carolina, and Panama City, Florida. Chip worked as a play-by-play broadcaster for ‘Orlando Magic’ of the NBA between 1989-1996.
Chip was also working on baseball games on the side for the American League(Seattle Mariners) between 1993-1995. It was during his broadcasting with the Mariners that he received a St. Louis Cardinals two-game tryout. He was then offered a job after the 1994 season but he remained with Seattle Mariners.
One of the prime points of his career was the Fox first edition of Major League Baseball broadcast in 1996.
His career continued to progress and in 1998, Chicago Cubs hired him to work alongside his grandfather as a broadcaster.
Unfortunately for him, his grandfather (Harry Caray) died before he was due to start and he took his grandfather’s position and worked with the team for seven seasons alongside Steve Stone. They both left Chicago Cubs after the end of the 2004 season.
When Chip Caray got another opportunity to work alongside another family member( his father) he embraced it wholeheartedly. He signed a contract with Clear Channel and TBS to broadcast alongside his father for the Atlanta Braves.
He described the experience of working with his father as life-changing and was when they actually formed a bond. Chip was also the broadcaster for TBS College football he covering Pac-10 and Big-12.
After a major shake-up among the Atlanta Braves broadcasters, with many of them leaving, Chip got promoted to the main play-by-play broadcaster for TBS during Major League Baseball playoff in 2007, a position he held till 2009.
Critics and fans of the game have criticized Chip for making some factual mistakes during postseason broadcasts. But he defended himself that this wasn’t the job he had when he got to the club and that he could only adapt and improve on it.
He proceeded to sign another contract with Fox Sports South on the 21st of December 2009 as a play-by-play broadcaster for all 105 Braves games and basketball games in their regional sports networks.

As regards his love life, Chip Caray married his longtime girlfriend Susan Eyerly on the 6th of April 1996 and they have built a lovely family together with four children. 3 Sons (Stefan, Tristan, Christopher) and a daughter (Summerlyn). They live in St. Augustine, Florida.
