The 30 year-old developed a passion for tennis at a tender age, considering the fact that she came from a family of the game’s enthusiasts, who were said to have plied their trade in it previously. Moreover, she actually started playing when she was just six years old.
The French Tennis Player Started Playing Professionally a Few Months Before Her 16th Birthday
A decade later after much physical and mental preparedness, the French tennis player made her first ITF appearance when she was barely 16 at the $10k tournament in March 2010 ITF Women’s Circuit. Although it was her first time playing at that level, she managed to go beyond the tournament’s singles events but was beaten in the second qualifying round. Moreover, she went on to take part in five tournaments.
The following year, Chloe made her WTA Tour singles debut at the WTA Premier 2011 Open GdF Suez as a wildcard but Michaela Pochabova of Slovakia beat the Frenchwoman in the first qualifying round. Subsequently, she went on to make her Grand Slam Women’s doubles debut at the 2014 French Open, but she and Alix Collombon were defeated in the first round by Russia’s Ekaterina Makarova and Elena Vesnina.
In 2015, she made her Grand Slam singles first appearance at the 2015 French Open after earning a qualification in the singles event. Even though she beat her compatriot Lou Brouleau in the first round, she lost in the second round to Poland’s Paula Kania.
The Versailles native made it to the WTA Tour singles main draw as a first-timer at the 2016 Copa Colsanitas. Despite recording two wins in two qualifying matches, Anne Schafer of Germany defeated her in the first round for the main draw.
2017 was much like 2016 for the French tennis star. She got to play at the WTA Tour singles in the main draw for the second time, and in a similar fashion, she still lost in the first round to Lesia Tsurenko of Ukraine after winning two qualifying matches at the Abierto Mexicano Telcel.
Regardless of her performance at Abierto Mexicano Telcel, she improved after gaining qualification for her Grand Slam singles main-draw debut at the French Open. Interestingly, she went to the tournament ranking 260 in the WTA singles ranking but put up a fight to beat Czech tennis star Kristyna Pliskova who was ranked 44th in the first round. This became the first-ever WTA Tour singles main draw win recorded by the Frenchwoman. Unfortunately, her fellow French compatriot Caroline Garcia beat her in the second round.
The Titles She Won
For all these years that the Frenchwoman has been playing, she has not had the best of the best until 2021. Based on records, 2021 seems to be the most intriguing moment of her career after qualifying for her first-ever Grand Slam championship, winning four titles, and an improved ranking.
It all started when she qualified for her first Grand Slam at the Australian Open and reached a career-high singles ranking of 126 in the WTA rankings as of November 2021 after winning the ITF World Tennis Tour at W80 Poitiers, the biggest title she has ever won. Also, she picked three W25 titles at Netanya, Wroclaw snd Kyiv.
