She began playing soccer when she was only five years old, and as the years went by it stopped being a hobby and became a career. Press attended Chadwick School before going on to Stanford University.
While in high school, she was captain of the team for two years, leading them to two titles, and scoring 128 goals. Parade Magazine and the NSCAA named her in their All-American team list. She was named Player of the Year twice and voted Prep League Offensive MVP four times. Press also broke school records while at Stanford. She was their all-time lead scorer, the second player to win a Hermann Trophy, and was a runner-up at the NCAA Women’s College Cup twice.

Press began her professional club career in 2003 when she signed with Washington Freedom, later renamed MagicJack. She immediately began proving her worth as a striker scoring several goals and a hat trick in her very first season. She made 19 appearances for the club, 16 of which she started, and she won the US Soccer Federation’s Rookie of the Year award.
In 2012, she moved to Sweden to play for Kopparbergs/Goteborg FC in the top division. Press scored two goals on her debut and ended the season as the league’s second-highest goalscorer with 17 goals. In 2013, she signed a contract with Tyresö FF, once again scoring on her debut, and ending the season with a total of 23 goals. Later in 2014, Press joined the Chicago Red Stars and began dominating the league immediately. She became the leading goal scorer and was named the NSWL Player of the Month.
After three seasons, she signed with her former club for three months in March 2018, returning to Sweden to score 4 goals in 3 games, and winning player of the month. However, her contract ended early and she went on to play the rest of the season with Utah Royals FC after they acquired rights to the soccer player in a trade in June.
Her next move in 2020 was to England where she played for Manchester United until 2021. Currently, she does not have a club after the expiration of her contract with the Reds.
