Claudio Bravo is a Chilean international playing as a goalkeeper for Real Betis in the Spanish Laliga and serves as captain of the Chilean national team. He started his career at the youth level in Macul with Colo-Colo before moving to Spain to join Real Sociedad in 2006.  Eight years later, he joined Barcelona in a €12 million deal, winning three trophies in his debut season.

On 25th August 2016, the goalkeeper joined the EPL club Manchester City for a fee of €18 million, winning many titles. After 4 years, he returned to Spain again and signed with Real Betis on a free transfer.

Internationally, he has featured for his country in 2 FIFA World Cups, 1 FIFA Confederations Cup, and 6 Copa America. He also led his side to 2 victories at the 2015 and 2016 editions of Copa America.

He was born Claudio Andres Bravo Munoz on 13th April 1983 in Viluco, Chile to his parents Marcial Bravo and Nora Munoz. He is currently 42 years old. He grew up alongside his brother Cesar Bravo in the town of Viluco where his father drives a truck and his mother works in a shop.

His father played a crucial role in his career, taking him to the Colo-Colo Youth Academy where he started playing club football. For his education, details are sketchy but available information shows that he was a talented and intelligent kid.

At the Colo-Colo Youth Academy, Bravo started to master the art of the game of soccer at the age of 11. The authorities there noticed his level of brilliance and hard work and placed him in the under-14 because of his skills.

How Claudio Bravo Makes And Spends Money

The goalie has an estimated net worth of $27 million. He has played for Man City, Barcelona, and Real Sociedad with transfer fees worth millions of euros.

He made the fortune in his professional soccer career and endorsement deals. As per salary, the amount he receives is not known, having joined Real Betis on a free transfer.

Back at Man City, he started earning a weekly salary of £80,000 but later changed to £100,000. He pockets $13 million from his deal with Manchester City

And allegedly receives almost a million dollars on endorsement deals from different brands, such as Samsung and Liga BBVA.

Bravo’s value in the transfer market has dropped exponentially from €15 million in July 2015 to €1 million in 2021.

The goalie is married to Carla Pardo. They walked down the aisle as husband and wife in 2007. And share 4 amazing kids, 3 girls and 1 boy.

His daughters are Maite, Mateo, and Emma and the son is Josefa.

1. He Is The 3rd Most Capped Player In Chile

The goalie and captain is the 3rd player with the most international caps (133) for Chile. He falls behind Alexis Sanchez and Gary Medel. He started representing his country at the under-17 and 23 level before he was called to the senior team in 2004.

2. He Was Caught In The Peru Controversy

It took place during a 2018 world cup qualifying game in Peru. The match ended in favor of Chile with the scoreline at 4-3. It was alleged by an eyewitness that the goalie wrote an offensive message in the dressing room of the home team as translated into English “Respect, America’s Champions were here”.

Furthermore, he was also caught on camera hitting the door after the match ended.

3. Bravo Was Nicknamed “Condor Chico” 

He got the nickname Condor Chico at the Colo-Colo Youth Academy where his father took him to start playing football. He was named after Robert Rojas who was once a goalkeeper for the club.

He is good at stopping the ball from getting into the net. His ability to save penalties received receives praise from the media.

One thing he is good at is coming out of his line anticipating attackers’ who have beaten the off-side rule, which got him the description of a sweeper keeper. He also knows how to take long goal kicks to help launch attacks for his team.

He has established himself as one of the best goalkeepers in his glory days. But he lost his drive at Manchester City in his debut season, which saw him getting dropped from the starting line-up.
