In 2009, following the Draft, he began his career with the Toronto Raptors after he was selected with the 9th overall pick. He signed his first deal with the team on July 9, and he continued to play for them until 2018 when he made a move to the San Antonio Spurs.
DeRozan’s move came after he was traded to the team together with Jakob Poeltl for Kawhi Leonard and Danny. His stay with the team only lasted until 2021 when he was traded again to the Chicago Bulls for which he continues to play.
