Desiree Scott is a Canadian professional footballer currently playing for Kansas City in the National Women’s Soccer League and the Canadian Women’s National Team as a midfielder. She is part of the Canadian national team that won bronze medals at the London 2012 and Rio 2016 summer Olympics before going on to win the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
She was nicknamed “The Destroyer” Because of her dexterity with the ball, especially in the midfield. She was born Desiree Rose Marie Scott on the 31st July 1987 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada by her father Hopeton Scott, and her mother Charlene Gusberti. She is currently 37 years old. Her parents are from separate ethnic origins; with her father born in Kingston Jamaica and her mother in Winnipeg, Canada.
While growing up she developed an interest in sports and athletics; which saw her partook in soccer, volleyball, basketball, and track, and field events.

She returned to Kansas FC for the second time in 2016 after featuring in 20 league games for the Notts County. The move was made possible through the NWSL player Allocation.
Two years later, she joined Utah Royals FC for the 2018 NSWL season through the NSWL Player Allocation. However, in 2020 she decided not to play the NSWL Challenge Cup and the NSWL Fall Series. The club was sold to the Kansas Group in December 2020 and Scott’s playing rights were transferred to Kansas City.

International Career
Internationally, she has featured for Canada at two youth levels (under-16 and under-19). Carolina Morace invited her to the senior side in 2010, where she debuted at that years’ Cyprus Cup.
A year later, Scott took part in the 2011 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Germany, which was her first. Later that same year, she featured regularly under John Herdman and helped the team to win a gold medal at the 2011 Pan American Games.
She also helped the team to pick bronze medals at the 2012 and 2016 Summer Olympics in London and Rio respectively. What has become her greatest achievement yet, is helping Canada to win the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo Japan after defeating Sweden on penalties.
