There is no doubt that the German tennis star, Dominik Koepfer is a great player. The tennis star achieved a career-high ATP singles ranking of world No.66 in September 2020. Koepfer has been playing tennis since he was in college where he won the winner of Tulane male student-athlete of the year award in both junior and senior categories back-to-back at the University of Tulane.

He made his career debut at the Winston-Salem Open as a lucky loser. The 26-year old tennis player played club tennis at TC BW Villirgen for 12 years. Dominik Koepfer has had some major wins in his career and has also participated in major tournaments and championships such as the oracle/TA Master’s tournament, ITA All-American Championships, NCAA Doubles Championships among many others.

Dominik Koepfer’s Professional Career Highlight

Dominik Koepfer’s career has been thriving since he earned 1st ranking point on July 13, 2015, after his junior year in college. When he won his first match on the ATP Tour as a lucky loser defeating Tennys Sandgren at the Winston-Salem Open. He won his first Grand Slam main draw match by defeating Filip Krajinovic in the first round. The player lost as a qualifier in the fourth round of the US Open to Daniil Medvedev in four sets.

He achieved a career-high no.83 on November 4, 2019, and he made it into the top 100 in September 2019 after the run at US Open 4R. He won his first ATP Challenger Tour titles in doubles at the 2017 Columbus challenger while partnering with Denis Kudla. At the moment, the player is focused on making bigger strides in the sport.

1. = All about Dominik Koepfer’s early life and family:

The tennis star was born to Dr. Thomas and Marianne Koepfer on April 29, 1994, in Furtwangen, Germany where he was brought up alongside his younger sister, Bettina. His father is an engineer while his mother is a pharmacist. He attended Otto Hahn gymnasium in Furtwangen and later furthered his studies at the University of Tulane to earn a degree in finance. He was introduced to tennis by his parents who used to play the game.

2. = Koepfer was not committed to playing tennis at first:

Unlike the story of many professional players, Koepfer is an exception. He did not develop much interest in tennis when he was still young until he was 16 years old. He grew up playing tennis, golf, and skiing.

3. = He is referred to as a gym rat:

He credits his success so far to his dedicated gym regimen and a committed diet. He mentioned that he noticed that going from being a college amateur to being a pro was easy for him because he paid attention to his body. Koepfer’s instructor described him as a beast in the gym and that he always eats the right food.

Dominik Koepfer is lucky to have someone like Williams as his coach. The two met at the end of the 2018 season and the result has been great, and Koepfer credits his success so far to his coach. With Rhyne Williams by his side, the talented tennis player is soaring towards the top 100.

Despite the fact that he wasn’t good at first, he worked his way up and it eventually turned around for him. He earned the no.1 individual college ranking during his junior season and claimed the all-American honors on two different occasions.

The tennis player made his first trip to the united states at the age of 18 and his English was not good at that time. He currently speaks English and German.
