Ellis Simms is on the cusp of joining famous names in soccer like Xavi, Thomas Muller, Patrick Kluivert, Marco Van Basten, Andres Iniesta, and several others great footballers who broke into the first team of their respective clubs from the youth system or academies if and when he makes his breakthrough into Everton FC’s first team from their academy.
He is a young football star who plays as a striker for Everton F.C. U23 team while also looking to make it to the England national team. The Oldham born English man has been turning heads and attracting interests lately, and we will know more about him in this piece.
Who is Ellis Simms?
Ellis Simms was born on 5 January 2001 in Oldham, United Kingdom. It was also in the UK that he was brought up always loving football. By the time he was 6, his talent was already obvious for all to see, although he was a really shy kid.
He got the chance as a kid, to train with Blackburn Rovers Academy where although the confidence was not there, he still managed to be among the best the academy had seen at the time. By the time he was 9, Ellis was already firing goals so much that other youth academies had started looking towards his direction.
At the age of 12, Manchester City had already come for him, giving him private schooling. He remained with City until the age of 16 when he was released. At that point, Rovers wanted to have him back on a scholarship but Everton would not waste time as they rushed to sign him to the under-18 team. Since then, he has shown ho sign of slowing down.
Why everyone thinks he is the future?
Many fans are currently raving about Ellis Simms being the next big thing to come out of Everton FC’s youth academy system, and they have good reasons to do so.
Every football fan loves a goal-scoring attacker and Ellis has been in impressive form in front of goal for a while now. He scored a total of 32 goals for Everton’s U-18 side during the season; scoring 48 goals across all competitions for the 2018 – 2019 campaign.
His proficiency in front of goal did not stop at the U-18 level, he continued his fine goalscoring form when he moved to the U-23 level, scoring just 10 minutes after coming on as a second-half substitute in his debut game against Brighton & Hove Albion in an international cup game.
If Ellis keeps improving and developing in all aspects of his game, definitely the future looks bright for him and Everton FC. Although he is yet to play internationally, he can play for England, Poland or Jamaica.
