Eric Bugenhagen’s Career
Eric Bugenhagen was fond of muscles and lifting from a very early age and once he got the chance in high school, he took it up and started working on his body.
Eric was unrecognized for quite a while. when he first started wrestling at Franklin High School, and even when he trained as hard as he could and wrestled in the NCAA Division I at the University of Wisconsin, he was still unknown and unrecognized. By the end of his senior year, he had compiled 56-55 mark after heavyweight wrestle.
He initially made a name for himself as one of the top lifters on YouTube and since 2011, he developed a serious performance for lifting and he even introduced lifting to his home.
In his early years, he joined and was part of the Badgers wrestling team and competed as a heavyweight in 2012.
In 2013, he appeared in USAPL push-pull meet back and had the opener with 605 deadlifts and 375 benches.
Since the beginning of this journey till date, he had partaken in two NCAA Championships; One at Omaha, Nebraska in 2011 and the other at Philadelphia. After this, he started working as a strength and fitness coach and volunteer assistant coach in Wisconsin.
The Wrestlers Professional Career
Professionally though, Eric Bugenhagen’s career started in 2017 when he signed a deal WWE under NXT. His first match was against Lars Sullivan which he lost.
After his defeat, he paired with Heavy Machinery (Otis Dozovic and Tucker Knight) and they claimed victory against Chad Lail and The Forgotten Sons (Steve Cutler and Wesley Blake).
A year into wrestling Eric Bugenhagen changed his name from the real name to Ric Boog, and with this new name, he wrestled against Kassius Ohno on the 30th of November 2018.
After several losses that year and the following, Eric decided to make his NXT television debut with his real name. He fought against Drew Gulak and still lost. However, after these defeats, Eric rose high as he claimed NXT Tag Team Champions the War Raiders alongside his tagged partner, Denzel Dejournette.
In 2020, Eric Bugenhagen featured with a new ring name ‘Rik Bugez as he finally claimed victory over Tino Sabbatelli at a March 7 live event.
Still, in 2020, Eric enrolled in WWE’s business partner EVOLVE wrestling and made a debut with the ring name Rik Bugez at EVOLVE 143 against Joe Gacy which he lost but redeemed himself at EVOLVE 144 after defeating Anthony Greene.
