Prior to his contract with the Colorado Avalanche, Gabriel started his ice hockey career with the Hammarby IF. This is a professional ice hockey team based in Gabriel’s hometown. However, he moved on to Elitserien and made his debut there on the 21^st of February 2009. He was 16 at the time and was the youngest player to have ever played in Elitserien.

By August of 2009, he was traded from the Whalers after being drafted by them in the 1^st round of their pick. He was traded to the Kitchener Rangers and a year later, he was named the captain of the team after showcasing his skills.

In the 2011 NHL Entry Draft, Landeskog was picked as the second overall by the Colorado Avalanche. He was with the team through till the 2012-13 season and after this, he signed a seven-year contract extension with the team for a sum of $39 million.

8. He Was Given A Two-match Suspension

During the Colorado game in October 2021, Gabriel Landeskog boarded Kirby Dach who is a Chicago Blackhawk forward. As a result of this, Gabriel was given a two-minute boarding penalty while Dach continued with the game. Subsequently, while reviewing the tackle, the NHL board’s verdict was a two-match suspension for the Colorado Avalanche’s captain.

This is however not the first time Gabriel is being penalized such. In 2015, he also faced a two-match suspension for an illegal check to the head. Gabriel was also given a three-game suspension in 2016 for cross-checking and served another four-match suspension cross-checking again in 2017.
