They thought it would be perfect for the young Baptiste but their family was a modest income family so her parents knew they could not afford it.
Her father insisted that they find a way to get her to the center so after getting an assessment from coaches at JTCC. She then began in the lower program for beginners at the age of 7. She was invited to the JTCC full-time program in the middle of the school year. It was hard for Baptiste to adjust from the regular school to the college like atmosphere at JTCC.
