The Polish professional tennis player, Iga Świątek was born to the family of Dorota Świątek and Tomasz Świątek. Her father Tomasz Świątek is a former rower who competed in the men’s quadruple sculls event at the 1988 Seoul Olympics while her mother toes the medical line.

Iga Świątek’s father, Tomasz Świątek was born in Warsaw, Poland on July 26, 1964. As earlier captured, he is a former Polish rower who competed in the men’s quadruple sculls event at the 1988 Summer Olympics, in which Poland won the “B” Final to finish seventh overall. More so, at the 1987 Universiade, Tomaz won gold medal. He was also associated with the Polish university sports club AZS Warsaw.
Although he had a flourishing career of his own, Tomasz is mostly known today as the father of Polish tennis player Iga Świątek, who is the first ever Polish player of either gender to be ranked world no. 1, and also the first ever player of either gender born in the 2000s to achieve the top ranking.
In a joint ceremony after Tomasz’s daughter won the women’s singles title at the 2020 French Open, Polish President Andrzej Duda presented them with honors: his daughter was given a Gold Cross of Merit, and he was given an Officer’s Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta for sporting achievements, for promoting Poland in the international arena. Andrzej Duda stressed during the ceremony at the Presidential Palace that the Polish woman’s triumph was a significant moment in the history of the country’s tennis and sport.

Iga Świątek’s mother, Dorota is mainly known as the celebrity mother of Iga Świątek. She may have been born on February 12, 1966, in Krakow, Poland, according to some unconfirmed reports. While so many details about Dorota are elusive, she is well-known to be an orthodontist. More so, her daughter Agata, who is about three years older than Iga is as well a dentist.

Iga Świątek’s Career was Significantly Influenced by Her Father
From our findings, Iga’s father talked her and her sister Agata into sports. He did not outrightly choose for them what to do but he encouraged them to take individual sports rather than team sports so that they can be able to have control of their chances of success. This turned out well for the athlete who initially started playing tennis because she wanted to beat her older sister Agata. Agata first began as a swimmer but eventually moved to tennis after experiencing challenges with water. She began competing in ITF Junior Circuit events in 2015 and won back-to-back low-level Grade 4 titles in April and May at age 13. Before the end of the year, she moved up to Grade 2 events and finished runner-up in both singles and doubles at the Czech Junior Open. Tomasz’s daughter made her junior Grand Slam debut in 2016 at the French Open, reaching the quarterfinals in both singles and doubles. She followed this up with her best junior title to date at the Grade 1 Canadian Open Junior Championships, defeating Olga Danilović in the final.
