Jayson Williams’ Biography
On the 22nd of February in 1968, Jayson Williams was born to Barbara and Elijah Williams. Williams was born in Ritter, South Carolina. Although he is black, Jayson William’s ancestry is made up of Polish and Italian people as well as African-Americans. He is one of the four children his parents had and his siblings are Linda, Laura, and Victor. The two sisters died of AIDS in the late nineties while he lost his father to a stroke in 2004 when he was seventy-six years old.
Christ the King Regional High School in the New York borough of Queen was where he had his high school education. After his time at Christ the King, Williams went to St. John’s University also in New York. While he was at St. John’s, he played college basketball and studied Communication. Williams was only at the school for three years between the years 1987 to 1990, which was the year he joined the NBA.
In 2002 during a tour of New Jersey, Jayson Williams killed Costas Christofi the driver of a limousine. The death was ruled as manslaughter, as Williams had been playing with a shotgun when it accidentally fired and killed Christofi. The case against him surmounted when he tried to hide the fact that he was the one who killed the man. He received a five years sentence and was only eligible for parole after eighteen months.
His NBA Career
Jayson William’s career in the NBA started in 1990 and by 1999 his career was over. He was picked by the Phoenix Suns in the first round of the 1990 draft but got sold to the Philadelphia 76ers, where he played for two years before moving to the New Jersey Nets.
Williams was with the Nets for seven years which is where he had the best run in his career. During a game on the 1st of April 1999, he ran into a teammate, Stephon Marbury, and broke his right leg. The surgery he had rendered him incapable of playing the game of basketball again and that was how he lost his career as a basketball player.

His next wife, Tanya Young is a lecturer. They got married in 2000 and she is the one he has had his longest marriage with, as they were together for eleven years. As fate would have it, they got divorced in 2011 irrespective of the fact that they share two daughters, Tryumph and Whizdom. Tryumph and Whizdom are not his only children, when he was in his early twenties, Jayson Williams adopted Ejay and Monique, his sister’s children.
