Jesse Ronson is a Canadian MMA fighter who competes in the lightweight division. He has fought professionally for 10 years, including in the UFC, Score Fighting, and Aggression Fighting. Ronson was born on December 24, 1985, in London, Ontario. He spent his early years picking fights on the street, and he noticed he was a natural at it so he decided to take his talent off the streets and make something tangible out of with that could bring him recognition and money instead of landing him in jail.
He began training as a wrestler and later decided to take up boxing and kickboxing while in high school. Eventually, MMA followed suit and became his passion. His increased fighting skills earned him the nickname “Body Snatcher” which continues to follow him everywhere. The name was coined after Ronson fought in three matches in the same number of days in 2006 and somehow managed to win all of them in the very first round by technical knockout using body shot techniques.
The formidable fighter kicked off his professional MMA career on November 28, 2009, fighting in the Elite 1 – Resurrection and defeating the reigning champion, Eric St. Pierre by first-round knockout. Ronson sustained the victory ride for another three fights until he succumbed to Lindsey Hawkes. He went on to defeat UFC favorite, Jason Saggo, which qualified him for the AM Ford Fight Night Lightweight Championship, which he won. He was crowned the new reigning champ and given the belt.
Ronson also fought against and claimed victory over other seasoned fighters like Ryan Healy and Shane Campbell, emerging champion of the Score Fighting Series 7, Aggression FC Championship in the lightweight division. He signed with UFC in August 2013, however, he lost his first three fights by split decision, which forced UFC to release him. Ronson appeared in Showdown in the Downtown against Dom O’Grady and won.
He returned to the UFC to fight Carlos Ferreira, but unfortunately, he had to withdraw from the match because he was heavier than the stipulated lightweight pounds, so the UFC released him once again.
