The Dutch midfielder started pursuing her career in football at a tender age. Being surrounded by brothers, she grew up playing with boys. She joined her first football academy at the age of 5. She later joined FC Twente in 2008.
She made her debut in the team at the age of 16 and she helped the team to win the BeNe League twice, the Eredivisie, and a few others.
After spending five years with the club Roord signed a two-year contract with Bayern Munich ahead of the 2017-18 season. She made her debut at the club on September 2, 2017. She later made her first UEFA Women’s Champions League appearance for the club in a 1-0 away loss to Chelsea.
