Born on June 27, 1970, in Fullerton, California, Jim Edmonds whose full birth name is actually James Patrick Edmonds, attended Diamond Bar High School where he played baseball so well that he caught the attention of clubs waiting to snatch him upon his graduation.
He was eventually drafted in the 7th round by the California Angels in the 1988 Major League Baseball Draft. Following the draft, Jim Edmonds went on to play in the minor leagues before making his major league debut for the California Angels in September 1993.
