Born Joseph Janela on the 3rd of July, 1989 in the Hazlet Township in New Jersey, this wrestler grew up in Asbury Park and by the time he was fifteen, he was already finding ways to wrestle. Wrestlers were required to be older than sixteen but Joey Janela’s desire to participate in the sport drove him to lie about his age. In 2006, he made his professional debut during a Triple Threat match at a National Wrestling Superstars competition, a match that he lost. The nature of independent work in wrestling means that a wrestler can have multiple debuts because they would keep debuting in different tournaments, and this applies to Joey Janela who has had many debuts in different competitions.

Over the course of his career, Janela has worked with World Xtreme Wrestling, Progress Wrestling, Major League Wrestling, SMASH Wrestling, and many others. He has been able to do this because of his work as a free agent.

All Elite Wrestling is a new wrestling promotion company that was created in 2018, and in January of 2019, it was announced that Janela had been signed to the promotion company create by Cody Rhodes and The Young Bucks, who are also wrestlers. Janela is the first wrestler who was signed and by May he made his debut with the agency in a match that he lost. The contract he signed with this agency is for three years which will be nullified by May of 2022. This is his most recent achievement in his wrestling career.
