Jorge Martin was born Jorge Martin Almoguera on the 29th of January 1998 in Madrid, Spain to his parents, Susana Almoguera and Angel Martin. The 26 year-old is the oldest child of his parents 2 children, his younger brother’s name is Javier Martin.
As a little child, he had a fascination for motorcycles and motorbikes as gathered by Richathletes.com. It seems his parents often buy him toys that have to do with racing. In fact, there are multiple childhood images of him on toy motorcycles and cars. Despite that, there was no indication that he was going to pursue a racing career. Therefore while growing up he first tried martial arts and tennis, but he was made for the race tracks.
He Started Racing at the Age of 8
Jorge Martin began the journey to become a motorcycle racer at a very young age. In 2006 when he was 8, he was said to have participated in a MotoGP race. It was here that he came into contact with former Italian motorcycle racer and 9-time Grand Prix champion, Valentino Rossi.
After gaining much experience and developing his racing talents, he made his Grand Prix debut in the Moto3 World Championship at the age of 17 in 2015. He had made an impact in his first season, earning 45 points and earning finishing in 7th position.
The following year, he had a good outing in terms of points at the 2016 Moto3 World Championship where he rounded up the campaign with 72 points and 16th position.
In 2017, he left MAPFRE Team Mahindra after being with them for 2 years and joined Del Conca Greshing Racing Team. Martin had an amazing campaign with the team, finishing his races in good positions, and went on to become one of the fastest qualifiers in the MotoGP paddock. He achieved this from his races in Qatar, Argentina, the USA, Barcelona, Australia, Italy, and France.
A year later, he won the Moto3 World Championship in Sepang, Malaysia, after winning in Qatar, America, Italy, The Netherlands, Germany, and Aragon. His other records at the championship include 2nd positions in San Marino and Valencia and 3rd in Austria. He would have made it to the Czech Grand Prix, but he couldn’t after a left radius fracture during training.

He Gained Promotion To The Moto2 and MotoGP In 2018 and 2021, Respectively
Having had an incredible year and a stellar performance in 2018, Jorge Martin levitated to the Moto2 World Championship category in 2019. This time around, he joined the Red Bull KTM Ajo Motorsport team and competed at the 2019 Moto2 World Championship. He ended the season in 11th position and 94 points after a 3rd and 2nd place finishes in Japan and Australia, respectively.
2020 was a little bit rough for him because he contracted Covid-19. Regardless of that, he had managed to finish the year brilliantly. The following year, he joined Pramac Racing Ducati and began racing at the MotoGP World Championship level. Despite a series of disappointments including an accident that kept him from participating in a couple of races, he went on to win his first MotoGP race as well as the 2021 Styrian motorcycle Grand Prix as a first-timer.
