In 2001, during his first year of college, Omega dropped out so he could focus on being a professional wrestler full-time. That same year, he signed with a promotion based in Winnipeg, Premier Championship Wrestling. He picked up his first Heavyweight Championship in September 2003. Since then, he has fought in dozens of matches, most of which have ended in his favor. He has also participated in other wrestling promotions, expanding his reach and fighting against some of the best in the business, and successfully winning and defending numerous titles.
The wrestler also made an interesting career move to Japan to fight in the promotion Dramatic Dream Team, followed by New Japan Pro-Wrestling. At the latter, he has built a strong tag team partnership with the Japanese wrestler Kota Ibushi. Having spent over a decade in Japan, Kenny Omega has obtained citizenship status.
