The wife of sacked Phoenix Sun’s coach, Monty Williams, was diagnosed with breast cancer during the playoff season. Despite her situation and her husband having to worry about her health, he still made it through the season, albeit the team being eliminated from the postseason.
Lisa is the Basketball coach’s second wife whom he got married to a year after he lost his first wife in an accident.
In a turn of events, the Williams family got several good news to share in June 2023 which includes a new job for the coach as well as improvement in Lisa’s battle with cancer.
Monty Williams’ Wife was Born in Oakland
Lisa Keeth Williams was born on May 18, 1980, in Oakland, California. Lisa attended Tom Clark school and then went on to get a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Angelo State University in 2002.
She met and began to date her now-husband after he lost his first wife, Ingrid, in 2016.
Their relationship which began in Lisa’s hometown soon developed into something more. In August 2017, she got married to one of the most sought NBA coaches.
Lisa Williams and Monty have been married for 8 years now and have no children together, however, zgr.net claims Keeth has a son from her previous marriage. Monty, her husband, had 5 children with his first wife.
Monty was married to Ingrid for more than 20 years until her demise in February 2016 after a car accident.

While at the University, Monty Williams’ second wife was part of the Angelo State Women’s Volleyball team. She joined the team in her freshman year in 1998 and was there till her Senior year prior to graduation in 2002.
Lisa Williams was even awarded Holland’s Sportswoman of the Year in 2002 for her athletic prowess.
According to a LinkedIn profile believed to be Keeth’s, she has been involved with Spurs Sports & Entertainment for many years. She started off as a Manager of Partnership Activation and then moved up the ranks to being the director.
As of June 2013, she took up the role of the Senior Manager of Partnership Activation there.
Lisa Williams diagnosed with Cancer During the Playoffs
Back when Monty was still the head coach of NBA’s Phoenix Sun, his wife was diagnosed with breast cancer. Unfortunately for Monty, he had to deal with this and the fact that his team was losing their games. The Phoenix Sun eventually got eliminated from the NBA 2023 postseason playoffs.
Despite knowing since then, the coach and his wife kept it a secret until recently. The reason Williams brought it up recently was because he believed sharing the news would help other women get checked on time.
Monty stated that he and his wife had to go through rigorous activities which involved genetic tests and back-to-back scans.
Lisa Williams’ health however seems to be improving as Monty was considering taking a break from work. The family has gotten the news that Lisa is in remission and doing better than they envisaged.
Lisa Williams Encouraged her Husband to Take the Coaching Job with Pistons
45-year-old Lisa Keeth Williams has encouraged her husband to take the job offered by Troy Weaver to coach the Pistons. This offer came earlier but was initially rejected by Monty because of his wife’s health.
However, seeing that Lisa is recovering fast, she has advised her husband to take the job which was still on the table. This job comes barely a month after Monty Williams was fired from his former team.
With the Detroit Pistons, Monty’s NBA contract includes a 6-year, 78.5 million salary. This happens to be the largest coaching deal ever in NBA history.
He was announced as the new Coach for The Detroit Piston on Tuesday, 13 June 2023.
