Lucas Biglia Profession Football Career
Lucas Biglia kick-started his professional football career in 2004 when he signed his first professional contract with Argentinos Juniors, an Argentine club and made his debut on the 1st of July that year in a 2-1 victory over Talleres. He went to make 17 appearances, scoring a single goal for the team before he left.
He eventually left the club after being dissatisfied with the coach’s decision to not feature him in the starting lineup for some time. Upon leaving Argentinos Juniors, Lucas joined the Independiente in 2005 after putting up a very impressive performance during South American U-20 Championships. Eventually, Lucas made his first appearance for the team on the 26th February 2005. At first, he was not appearing in the starting lineup regularly but after some time, he became a regular starter for the team after the coach noticed his good form. He featured in 49 games for the team before moving to Anderlecht.
Lucas Biglia signed a four-year contract with Anderlecht in July 2006 and got the chance to play in the Belgian Pro League. While he was with the team, Lucas wore jersey number five and swiftly became very popular with the fans. Lucas spent seven seasons with Anderlecht and made a total of 312 appearances in the Belgian Pro League. During this time, he won four league titles and rose to become the captain of the team.
In 2013, Lucas finally left Anderlecht and entered a five-year deal with the Italian side, Lazio making his debut in the opening match of the season against Udinese. He made a total of 109 appearances, scoring as many as 13 goals before he left Lazio and joined A.C. Milan.
Lucas Biglia’s contract with Milan was made official on the 16th of July 2017. The deal cost Milan a whooping €17million and is meant to elapse in 2020. So far, he has risen to become one of the most dependable players in the midfielder for A.C. Milan.
International Career
On the international level, Lucas Biglia has certainly been a good patriot of his home country, Argentina. His efforts in lifting his country’s flag high started with the U-17 Argentina national team which he helped them to win the South America U-17 Football Championship. He was also instrumental in helping the U-17 squad to place third in the FIFA U-17 World Championship in 2003.
Lucas was also among the U-20 Argentina squad that won the U-20 South America championship as well as the winning the FIFA U-20 World Youth Championship in 2005.
