Luis Alberto Lopez who is otherwise known as el Venado is a 31–year-old established Mexican boxer who fights in the Featherweight division. He is most famous for holding the IBF featherweight little in 2022.
El Venado‘s Family and Childhood
Luis Alberto Lopez Vargas was born in Mexicali, Baja California, Mexico on 21 August 1993.
His family has been kept under wraps but he has brothers whom he likes to spend time with when he is not boxing. Also, his family has been at the forefront of supporting his career. In fact, they encouraged him to be disciplined and fight professionally rather than getting into street fights.
He fought in his neighborhood in Mexicali and he knew he was going to always end up fighting. But without his family’s push to turn his energy into discipline, he probably would not have become a professional fighter.
He Played Football and Got the Name El Venado Before Becoming a Professional Boxer
Luis Alberto Lopez played football when he was younger. He was good at it. Yet, one peculiar thing about him at the time was his speed. His coach noticed his swiftness and started calling him El Venado which translates to “The Deer”.
In any case, he put his football playing at a standstill when he became a professional boxer in 2015 at 22.
In an interview, he opened up that at the time, he started his career late but he understood that it was not about how early or late one starts his career but his heart was there and there was also a lot of effort.
What to Know About El Venado’s Boxing Career and Records
The Mexicali native made his debut on November 6 2015 against Francisco Javier Pacheco. He won the fight in a split decision after the fourth round.
A few months after on 29 January 2016, he won another fight against Erick Torres Escobedo in a unanimous decision. Again, he won his next two fights in unanimous decisions.
He then recorded numerous other wins until recording his first-ever loss on March 24 2018 in a fight against Abraham Montoya.
Quickly, he regained his glory and recorded five straight wins before losing to American professional boxer, Ruben Villa.
While many of his fights set him up for fame and rooted him more in the world of boxing, he accorded his fight with Gabriel Flores Jr. in 2021 as one that had greatly influenced his career. According to him, the fight won him more fans and fame as people became enthusiastic about his career.
The fight ended in the 10th round in a 23-2 record and in a unanimous decision.
