His father is a former football player who eventually kindled his love for football and helped to hone his skills from a very early age.

1. Sporting Family Heritage
Marek was born into a family that has sports genes built in them. His father was a footballer before him, playing in Slovakia’s five-a-side team, where he was also the team captain; his mother, on the other hand, played handball on the side. His little sister, Michaela, also followed the family tradition of playing handball.

Marek’s dream growing up was to become a professional footballer and make his family and nation proud in the future, but as he came from a humble background, he couldn’t afford to readily make his dream a reality.
