Melissa Satta was born to Italian parents Mariangela Mazzu and Enzo Satta in Boston, Massachusetts, United States. She was born on 7 February 1986 as the only daughter among two brothers – Ricardo and Maximilian.
Growing up, the model attended a high school in the United States and later attended IULM University of Milan.
Away from her education, she is athletic and participated in numerous sports such as football and karate.

In 2011, Satta became engaged to German-born Ghanaian footballer Kevin-Prince Boateng after they met at the 2011 Milan Fashion Week.
They had a child, Maddox Prince on April 15, 2014, and were married in Porto Cervo, Sardinia on June 25, 2016. However, the marriage crashed in December 2020.
