1. 35-Year-Old Bamba Grew Up In A Foster Care

Paul Bamba was born on August 15, 1989, in Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico. His parents struggled to bring him up, so, he was taken away and put in foster care when he was 3. Unfortunately, he was bullied, harassed, and abused, and before his teenage days, he had lived in twenty different fosters homes. Subsequently, a family took him in and they still remain a part of his life.

2. Paul Has A Strained Relationship With His Mother

As captured, the Puerto Rican-born American didn’t grow up with his biological parents. There are claims that his mother sold him for drugs after his father gave up his custody. Moreover, he recently revealed in an interview that he doesn’t have a relationship with his mother, but he is just getting to know his father.

3. He Joined The United States Marine Corps At 18

In 2007, when Bamba was 18 years old, he enlisted in the Us Marine Corps and was posted to Iraq, where he served.

Narrating how he got into the military, Paul said a Marines ad fell out of a magazine he was reading. So, he jokingly put a call through, and a staff sergeant came looking for him an hour later. Although he was terrified, the sergeant encouraged him saying the military gives a chance for people to start life afresh. He joined the following week.

4. The Puerto Rican-American Had Nowhere To Live At 25

After Bamba was discharged from the Marine Corps, he tried going to school, but it didn’t quite work for him, and having nowhere to go, he moved to New York City in 2014. While there, he did a couple of jobs to fend for himself, but things got worst and he found himself self with no place to live nor what to eat. So, he started living in the streets; sleeping on couches and in subway cars in the city.

5. He Boxed For $10 A Round To Survive

As life became so hard without a roof under his head or food, he took to boxing as a means of survival.

In Morris Park in the Bronx, there is a boxing gym called “Morris Park Boxing Club” owned by former American boxer, Aaron “Superman” Davis. At the boxing club, boxers can earn $10 per round. The longer a boxer survives each round, the more money he makes.

So Bamba began to box for $10 and started earning more for lasting more than a round. That’s how he was able to feed.

The celebrity fitness trainer made his professional boxing debut on January 9, 2021, against Mexican boxer, Felix Alexis Cardenas at the La Terraza Sports Bar, Agua Prieta, Mexico. He won the bout via 1st round TKO.

Since then, Bamba has fought in 6 more bouts, winning 4 and losing 2. His boxing record at the moment is 5 wins and 2 losses.

He attributed his successes so far to the military training and discipline he received while he was a marine corps.

9. He Uses His Childhood Experiences To Give Back To The Society

Having gone through a rough patch as a child and as an adult, the boxer is now championing a better life for others. Bamba has organized fundraising events and made donations to different local communities in New York. He has given away 500 turkeys to people within the Bronx Community in 2021.
