Despite spending his formative years in Prescot without his father, English professional boxer Sam Maxwell defied all odds by foregoing his education to pursue boxing. His efforts were rewarded with the Commonwealth light-welterweight title in 2021 and the British light-welterweight title from 2021 to 2022.
Maxwell has not made a lot of money from boxing, notwithstanding his professional success. That didn’t stop him from proposing to his son’s mother and long-term girlfriend, Sascha Jade, after he triumphed over Akeem Ennis-Brown in August 2021.
Sam Maxwell Was Born In Hackney, But He Was Forced To Move To Prescot, Liverpool After His Father Passed Away
When Sam Maxwell was born on October 17, 1988, in Hackney, London, he may have had a normal upbringing, but his father’s death in 1997, when he was about eight years old, changed everything. His mother Samantha was obliged to move to Prescot, where her family was from, to assist in his upbringing, along with his eldest sister, Lucy Eleanor, his younger brother, Cee Max, and his younger sister, Alexis Maxwell, who was not born when his father died.
Interestingly, he began kickboxing while still in London, and at the age of 12, he joined Higherside ABC, an amateur boxing gym in Warrington. His mother was always there for him and drove him to the gym because he couldn’t drive. On days when he didn’t want to go, she would normally push him, as she did with the rest of his siblings.
His eldest sister, Lucy Eleanor, is a solicitor, his younger brother, Cee, is a music producer, and his younger sister, Alexis, graduated from university with honors. Maxwell, on the other hand, dropped out of Liverpool Hope University’s Bachelor of Applied Science in Sports Studies program to focus on boxing. During his time there, he won the 2009 university boxing championship and was named boxer of the competition.
He persuaded his mum to let him drop out of university and pledged to make boxing work. Years later, his sacrifice was rewarded with:
- the WBO European light-welterweight title in March 2019
- the Commonwealth and British welterweight titles in August 2021
Super Is Not Yet Married, But He Proposed To His Long-Term Girlfriend, Sascha Jade In 2022
While many people refer to Sascha Jade as the wife of English professional boxer Sam Maxwell, she is actually his fiancee. He had been dating her for some time before deciding to propose to her.
After reclaiming the Commonwealth and British light welterweight titles from Akeem Ennis-Brown in August 2022, the Liverpool-based boxer pulled the unexpected engagement. He got down on one knee with the ring after returning to his hotel room following the victory.
After that Sam and Sascha welcomed their son, Omari Maxwell, born on March 5, 2022. He is 2.

How Much Did Sam Maxwell Make From Boxing?
It is difficult to say how much Maxwell earned from his professional boxing career at this time. To offer an idea of his financial situation, the boxer stated following his victory over Akeem Ennis-Brown in 2021:
I’m still waiting to hear what opportunities are out there but I’m British and Commonwealth champion now and ranked top 10 in the world.
Opportunities did present themselves, and while he lost the vacant IBO super-lightweight title to Alejandro Menenses in April 2022, his fortunes may have improved. It will also improve as he competes for the British Superlight and Commonwealth Boxing Council SuperLight titles against Dalton Smith.
