Samantha Estephania Guadalupe Bricio Ramos was born on November 22, 1994, in Guadalajara, Jalisco Mexico her hometown. Her parents are Guillermo Bricio and Estela Ramo. She has two older brothers Nijinsky and Irving.
Her father is a retired bank while her mother is a retired, physical education teacher.
She attended Preparatoria de Universidad del Valle de Atemajac de Guadalajara High School and also the University of Southern California where she received a bachelor’s degree in Psychology in 2016.

1. Samantha Bricio has a family filled with athletes
Bricio’s family is filled with people who have accomplished so much in sports. Her grandfather, uncles, nephews, cousins, and parents are all athletes. Her father and her brother Irving, both played for the Mexican national basketball team.
Her other brother, Nijinksy was also a member of the Mexico senior national team and has won the top Mexican sports award. He played volleyball and basketball throughout his college days. He still plays rugby in Guadalajara.
Her mother is also a talented volleyball player and still plays competitively with her peers. No doubt Bricio got her strong competitive genes from her family.
2. Bricio started her career at a very young age
Samantha Bricio began participating in tournaments at a very young age. She played in the 2009 FIVB Girls Youth World Championship at the age of 14. She was the team’s youngest competitor at that time.
Her team finished ninth. The Mexican Volleyball Federation for the 2011 Pan American Games and the 2012 Olympics became interested in her after seeing her performance at the tournament.
In 2010, she played in the Guadalajara Volleyball Festival. She later won the Private High Schools National Championship with Preparatoria de Universidad del Valle de Atemajac de Guadalajara which made her receive a medal from the Guadalajara city council.
While playing for her regional team, Jalisco, she helped the team to qualify for the National Games. She also helped Preparatoria de Universidad del Valle de Atemajac de Guadalajara win the private High Schools National Championship.
Samantha Bricio received a full athletic scholarship to the University of Southern California after she had received 12 other offers from different colleges.
She was the best collegiate female volleyball player in 2016 while in college. She also played with the American Premier Volleyball League club Chesapeake Rising Tide at the 2016 league tournament that was held at the Open National Championships. Her team lost but they were able to win the bronze medal after achieving third place.

3. She joined the Mexican national team at the age of 15
Joining the Mexican national volleyball team was quite easy for Bricio. She was placed sixth with the junior national team during the 2008 NORCECA U-20 Championship. She had previously won a gold medal in the Mexican National Games in the 13-14-year-old category.
She was given the Rising Star award for her incredible performances at a young age.
Bricio played for the youth team as well winning a silver medal as the most valuable player in the NORCECA YouthChampionship. She had her first international experience with the senior team at the 2010 Central American and Caribbean Games.
