Simi Shittu is an up-and-coming British-born Canadian star college basketball player who plays as a power forward for the Vanderbilt Commodores, in the Southeastern Conference (SEC). He previously played for the Vermont Academy team while he went to school there. He is widely considered a star athlete with spectacular prospects by coaches, recruiters, and followers of the sport.
Shittu was courted by recruiters from all over the country and had to choose between hefty scholarships from over 20 schools including top division programs such as UCLA, Alabama, North Carolina, Vanderbilt, Texas, and Baylor. Despite all the incredible offers he had to choose from, the teenager chose to pitch his tent with Vanderbilt. He announced that he would be committing to the school for his higher education as a student-athlete in November 2017.
He has unanimously ranked the best power forward and No.7 player in the recruiting Class of 2018. He was also named a McDonald’s All-American, as well as the seventh-best prospect amongst his peers.

Simi Shittu became enamored with basketball when he was a little boy. All he wanted to do was train enough to get good enough to play against some of the best players in the world. According to him, what kept him going and fueled his passions was the voice inside of him that kept prodding him to train harder even when he was too tired to take it. However, his biggest motivation is the desire to pay his mother back for the sacrifices she has made for him. Not wanting her to ever worry about money is what keeps him focused on the court.
His movements are well-coordinated, strong, and thick. His impressive height makes it difficult for the opposition to bully him for the ball. He is a good finisher and leader with great instincts that help him dominate every game he is in. He managed to shoot 58.3% from the floor at NBPA Top 200, and 58.5% at the Nike EYBL tournament, averaging 6 free throws per game in 2016, which rose to 9.5 in the 2017 EYBL. He also had one of the best rebounds in the tournament, finishing in the top 5 with over 10.2 rebounds per game. Simi Shittu was a top scorer at Montverde Academy, where he schooled during his sophomore high school year before transferring to Vermont Academy.
His professional career is advancing really fast and he is expected to move on to an illustrious pro career after successfully completing the college phase of the journey. Despite being only 19 years old, Shittu has already made a name for himself as far as the game of basketball is concerned, and might just be on his way to becoming one of the best players the NFL would ever see.
College Stats
Shittu is one of Vanderbilt’s top recruits and its second honouree in the class of 2018, the other being Darius Garland. He is considered a wonderboy and his signing with the Commodores have made the team one of the leading squads in 2018.

Simi Shittu has leveraged his size and skills into becoming a multi-position player, who can score, pass, and facilitate. He is as good on the offense as he is on the defense, and his finishing improves with each game. His statistics are really impressive across the board, and although he is currently recurring from an injury, he is expected to return and pick up where he left off.
NBA Draft
Although Shittu is not yet signed to the NBA, he has been a regular member of the Basketball Without Borders program organized by FIBA and the NBA. He is regarded as one of the top prospects and is expected to get picked during the NBA draft session after he completes his college education.

Burlington native, Simi Shittu is an athlete on the rise. He has had the body of a man since he was 15 and has continued to grow into his frame. He currently stands at 6 feet 10 inches tall and weighs 240 pounds. His bulky frame has no doubt earned him stares and admiration from female and male fans alike.
