The Dutch tennis player was born on the 2nd of July 1996 in Haarlem, the Netherlands to Ron and Monique Griekspoor. He was brought up by a dad who was sports inclined as well as he was a motocross driver. Also, he grew up as the last of three boys and his older brothers were twins.
At the age of seventeen, he moved to Belgium to train with Kristof Vliegen, the former Top-30 player.
He is presently 28 years old. He was born 5 years after the birth of the Griekspoor twins. Although not the youngest tennis player in the world currently, he is still quite young and would probably play for many more years.
2. He Hails From A Family Of Athletes
Apart from the fact that Tallon’s dad, Ron was into motocross racing, his older brothers were also athletes. In fact, he most likely picked up his sporting passion from his older brothers whom he watched play while growing up. Given the 5 years age gap between the older Griekspoor boys and Tallon, they obviously had a head start into sports and this gave the younger brother a lot to experience and learn from.

Griekspoor’s twin elder brothers named Scott Griekspoor, and Kevin Griekspoor both 33, were tennis players. Although Scott and Kevin have since retired from the game, they peaked at No. 205 and 655 respectively, on the ATP ranking list.

If the passion for tennis wasn’t more overwhelming for the Dutch Tennis star, he probably would have tilted towards his father’s career path. Even as he is a tennis player at the moment, his love for motor racing is still very evident.
He often follows the sport and cheers on his favorites in the game. This is obvious from his Twitter posts and retweets.
4. His Became A Tennis Pro At The Age Of 19
The would-have-been motocross racer became a tennis pro in 2015 at the age of 19. By the time he was 21 in 2017, he had made his ATP debut as a wildcard at the Rotterdam Open.
Playing as a wildcard, Tallon defeated Grand Slam champion Stan Wawrinka in 2018. By 2019, he also defeated Karen Khachanov, the World No. 11 and 2nd seed, in the first round of play. After he qualified, he made his debut for the Grand Slam tournament at the 2020 Australian Open.
He became a titleholder of the 2021 Prague Open and 2021 Slovak Open which led him to a career-high ranking of No. 120. He was also qualified for the 2021 Wimbledon Championships. In 2021, Tallon went ahead to win the tournament after defeating Botic van de Zandschulp in the final.
On February 28 2022 he achieved a career-high ATP single of world No. 54. He is currently Dutch No.2 men’s singles player.
5. A Foot Injury Made Him Pull Out Of A Game With Rafael Nadal
In January 2022, Rafael Nadal and Tallon Griekspoor had a face-off for the semi-finals of the Melbourne Summer Set tournament. However, Nadal was handed a walkover to the semi-finals due to Tallon pulling out of the game.
The 28 year-old tennis player made his withdrawal following a foot injury. This would have been the duo’s first meeting and it would have been iconic as the Dutch player had always idolized Nadal and dreamed of the day he would play the Spaniard.
Ironically, Rafael was had been struggling with foot injuries as well.
