Tom Platz is a native of Oklahoma who was born on June 26, 1955, at Fort Sill Oklahoma, USA. Even though he is now widely known simply as Tom Platz, it is noteworthy that his full name is actually Thomas Steven Platz.
Details about his parent’s names are still being reviewed. This is mainly because he has kept mum on their identities. Tom is said to have two younger siblings. According to reports, right from his childhood, he had always admired male models that he saw in magazines and grew up nursing the idea of becoming a well-known celebrity someday like those models.
After his high school, Tom was accepted into the Wayne State University where he majored in science physiology and Nutrition. After his first degree, he went further to acquire a Master’s degree in Fitness Science.

Tom Platz kick-started his bodybuilding career in 1973 when he took part in the Mr. Adonis competition. He continued taking part in different competitions and eventually won the1978 World Amateur Championships in the middleweight division.

He had also participated in several other competitions before his retirement in 1987. He made a brief second coming after his retirement in 1995 and got rewarded with prestigious Mr. America title.
Away from the bodybuilding scene, Tom Platz has also been in the movie industry as he has featured in several films. He made his debut on the silver screen in the film titled The Comeback in 1980 after which he continued to play different roles in other movies such as Twins in 1988, Book of Love in 1990, 8 Heads in a Duffel Bag in 1997, and Who Killed Johnny Love in 1998.
