One of the most interesting things about life is the amount of impact a relatively small decision has on your life. For the basketball player Tony Farmer whose life story is a cautionary tale, he is an example of what happens to people when actions are made on a spur especially when they are in a fit of anger.
This NBA star had huge prospects as a player of the game, all of which changed with his decision to commit several felonies.
Tony Farmer – Biography of the NBA star
Even in his childhood, it was clear that Tony Farmer was destined for greatness. Farmer was born on the 24th of March in 1994. His birth took place in Cleveland, Ohio, it is not known if he spent his childhood in Cleveland but he definitely grew up in the state of Ohio. Information on the members of his immediate members of his family is not known, the only person in his family whose identity is known is his mother and her name is Michele Farmer.
Farmer came to the spotlight when he was still a high school student at Garfield Heights. When he was at this school, he played on the school’s basketball team. For the period he played with the team, he was one of the school’s star athletes and was on track for the offer of a sports scholarship from different universities. His skill was noticed nationwide and he was featured on a list of the best 100 high school players in the United States. But all of this came to halt in 2012.
By the time he got his life back in 2015, he declared himself for the NBA draft of 2017 but no team picked him as he was not wanted on any teams, this could be a result of his criminal charges.

Controversies
Tony Farmer and his girlfriend Andrea Lane had broken up in April of 2011; their breakup was caused by Tony abusing Andrea. He had been arrested in the same month of their break-up as he lashed out at Andrea. After he was let out on bail, Farmer went back to Lane’s house in Bedford Heights and assaulted her one more time. All of which was captured on the CCTV in the building. For his actions he was sentenced to three years in prison, upon hearing his sentence Tony fell back into his chair in despair. His remorse after his sentence was given made his case to become a nationwide story. The case was presided over by Judge Pamela Barker at the Cuyahoga County Common Pleas court. His sentence was delivered in August of that year.
Andrea Lane, his victim delivered a tearful speech at the court in his defense saying he is a good man who just had a bad day; her speech did not sway the judge who still gave him the three-year sentence.
The justice system in America is constantly criticized for its many failings and in its unfairness to the black population but in the case of Tony Farmer, justice was truly served. He got out of prison in 2015.
When he was sentenced, reactions on social media, particularly on Twitter were in his favor with the trending of the hashtag #freetonyfarmer. But the clamor for his release on social media did not help with his exoneration.
