When Véronique Zidane, whose birth name is actually Fernandez Lentisco, was born in Aveyron, France on November 10, 1971, her parents never had the tinniest intuition that someday their daughter would be the pillar of support and backbone to one of football’s greatest players.
Both her parents – Antonio and Anita Lentisco are from Spain but were based in France around the 1980s. Growing up, she initially wanted to become a biologist and originally went to the university to study Biology. However, she eventually fell in love with dancing and gave up her dreams of being a biologist for ballet dancing. She dropped out of school to become a professional dancer.
It was while she studying dance in Cannes that she met Zidane and they both got attracted to each other. Eventually, she would give up everything to support her boyfriend wholeheartedly, marrying him a few years later.

1.) She hated sports as a child
As a child, her father wanted her to embrace the athletic world and take part in sporting activities, but she detested that vehemently, rather choosing to divert her passion elsewhere. However, years later, she fell in love with one sport in particular – football because her husband was an active player of the game.
2.) She had an undying passion for dance
From a very young age, Veronique realized she loved dancing. She wanted to be a well-respected ballet dancer when she grew up. This passion was so strong that when she was in her teenage years she enrolled in the much-respected Rosella High Tower Dance School in Cannes, on the French Rivera. It was while she was pursuing this passion that she came across the love of her life.
3.) How Véronique Zidane met her husband
Véronique Zidane and her husband, Zinedine both met sometime in 1989 in Cannes, at the cafeteria of the youth worker residence where they both lived. Zidane was playing for a club known AS Cannes while she was learning to be a ballet dancer.
Their stories about their meeting later on in life reveal that they both fell in love with each other instantly. That love culminated in marriage on May 28, 1994, at the Bordeaux City Hall – as Zidane had just signed for the club Bordeaux.

Véronique Zidane is apparently not a gold digger as her love story has shown. When she first met the young boy who would eventually become her husband, he was not the accomplished football superstar that he later became. He is also an accomplished football coach today.

Frédéric Hermel, the writer of Zidane’s biography in 2019, gave an account of how Veronique was instrumental in removing certain individuals from her husband’s life – people she thought were bad influences, toxic or steering him away from his goals and visions.

Veronique is not all just about her husband and children, she likes to unwind once in a while. Her favorite getaway destination with her family is Ibiza – where she loves to sunbathe at the beach.
