Viddal Riley is a 27-year-old British professional boxer and artiste. He began boxing professionally at the age of 21 despite having a knack for the sport from the age of 3.
The young Cruiserweight boxer was signed under Mayweather Promotions as soon as he was ready to go pro. Now, he boasts of having a career in boxing which he interweaves with a rapping career and a booming YouTube channel.
Viddal Riley Started Boxing Before he Turned 5
Before the fame and signing with former professional boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr.’s promotional team, Riley had been boxing as a child.
He was born on July 7, 1997, in Hackney, London. Riley attended Northumberland Park Community School, Tottenham, and also the London Borough of Haringey, England.
Sometime in the early 2000s, the cruiserweight boxer began to develop a liking for boxing. He admitted that he began to box at a child of 3 years/4 years but wasn’t allowed in the gym till he was 6.
As a young boy, Viddal hated to do what he was told and he grew up in a community where it was easy to go off track. His parents did all they could to ensure that he doesn’t join anything detrimental to him.
When his father noticed that he had a thing for boxing, the older Mr. Riley then fueled and encouraged The Rilest.
As an Amateur Boxer, Viddal Riley Worked as a Personal Trainer
Riley started his amateur boxing career at the age of 6 and his father, Derrick had no qualms with him taking it seriously. In fact, as earlier stated, Mr. Derrick Riley, introduced him to boxing.
The British boxer trained so hard and well at West Ham Boxing Club. He was so good that he soon became a personal trainer at a gym in Stratford, London. He trained at the GymBox and was opportune to meet and train YouTubers such as Olajide Olayinka Williams Olatunji, famously known as KSI.
Viddal even got a lot of publicity after KSI’s fight against Logan Paul.
Asides from rising to the point of being a personal trainer, Riley also won 8 national championships. He won a Silver Medal during a European Junior Silver Medal competition in Anapa, Russia.
In 2014, the British boxer became a Nanjing Youth Olympian and ended his amateur career with a record of 41 wins and 8 losses.
He Turned Pro at the Age of 21 in 2018
In 2018, Viddal Riley turned pro after an impressive amateur career. He joined the Mayweather Boxing Club in Las Vegas. His professional debut was on November 30, 2018, against Julio Manuel Gonzalez.
Since his debut on June 15, 2023, the boxer has fought 8 matches and won all 8 matches. His 9 fight would be a rematch against Anees Taj. During their first match, Viddal dealt Taj a punch that left an injury on his face and brought about the end of the match.
In the rematch, Viddal hopes to remove all doubt from Anees’ mind that he can beat him again.
He is now signed to the multi-fight promotional company known as BOXXER and also Skysports.
Viddal Riley is an Artiste and Entrepreneur
The 6 feet 1-inch tall boxer is not just good at throwing punches. He has proven that he can throw bars in the studio as well. This is proven by his numerous musical releases which are in the form of singles, EPs, and albums.
Some of his songs include Paddling Pools, The Riddim, Manny, and Ride for Team from one of his albums.
In addition to his career as an artist, Ril is also an entrepreneur who sells supplements. His business is known as ‘My Protein’ and comes in different packages.
The 27-year-old boxer has a Youtube channel that boasts over 1 million subscribers, as of 2023.
Riley is Interested in Winning the British Title Soon
Viddal has his eyes on a lot of prizes but most importantly, he looks forward to winning the British Cruiserweight title. He hopes to achieve this feat before the end of 2023. He has always had hopes of winning the title and has even mapped out ways of achieving this. If it includes going head-to-head with his friends such as Chris Billam-Smith and fellow boxer Lawrence Okolie, he wouldn’t mind.
Riley Viddal has a reach of 76 and a half inches and with his orthodox stance, he sure knows his way around the boxing ring. If he says he would achieve this title by the end of the year, then he would do everything he can to achieve it.
To win this title, he hopes to start with the English title before getting the British title. Lastly, he could go for the World title, eventually.
