Interesting Facts About Her

1. She decided not to go to college so as to concentrate on golf

The talented golfer initially verbally committed to UCLA in 2017, but after 10 months, she decided to withdraw her commitment. She indicated that she did not see a need to go to college because most of the great golfers did not go to college.

Yealimi Noh indicated that rather than going to college, she wanted to turn pro and start her career when she was still at her best.

Although her father Brian Noh had no problem with that, her coach was of the opinion that she could as well go to college. Nonetheless, he still supported her decision.

2. Her father and coach have been instrumental in her rise

The two most important people that have influenced the rise of Noh as a golfer are her father and her coach. As stated, her father Brian Yealimi was the first person to introduce her to the sport when she was 7.

Apart from her dad who has continued to support her, she has always been coached by  Erik Stone who has been her instructor since the age of 9.

3. Yealimi decided not to follow in the family business

The parents of the golfer, Brian and Kim may be Koreans, but they own and operate a Japanese restaurant in Concord which has become the family business. With that said, she stands at a height of 5 feet 6 inches. Her body weight is 59 kg (130 lbs).

5. She crashed out in the third round of her first US Open

In 2020, Yealimi Noh played in her first U.S Women’s Open and would have made history as the youngest person to win the championship had she won. Unfortunately, the California native crashed out in the third round.

In 2021, the young golfer received two bad times at the  Kia Classic’s third round. Because of this, she was hit with a $10,000 slow-play fine. This means that although she won $4,247 at the tournament, she still lost even more money.

According to her, she was not going to appeal the ruling because it was all her fault. The fine was supposed to be $2500 for each offence but it was doubled because she was also fined in 2020 for a pace-of-play offence.
