Antonio Donnarumma is a football star who has been in the game since 1999. He plays as a goalkeeper for Serie A club Milan. Despite the fame he has come to achieve as a great shot-stopper, he has still been unable to play for his country’s national team.
Starting out in his youth career with Juve Stabia, he remained with the Italy based football club until 2005 when he moved to Milan at the age of 15. In the course of his career so far, Donnarumma has played for various clubs including the Serie B clubs, Piacenza and Gubbio, as well as Genoa in the Serie A. He was born on the 7th of July 1990 in the administrative township Castellammare di Stabia of the Metropolitan City Naples in Italy. He is the eldest of two sons born to mother Marinella and father Alfonso Donnarumma, the younger brother being Gianluigi Donnarumma also a goalkeeper for Milan and they have a sister Nunzia. He also has another brother who is less known, Alfredo.
From a very early age, the two boys fell in love with football and thanks to that, they were both discovered when they were still quite young. Both his parents were lovers of football and that made it easy for their three sons to also fall in love with the sport that they would come to be famous for.
Prior to joining Milan, young Donnarumma ran 5 seasons in Juve Stabia playing in the U17 and U20 sides. During his time on loan to Piacenza, he made his official club debut on the 14th of August 2010 in the second round of preliminaries against Virtus Lanciano, playing an entire 120minutes with an eventual 5-3 win by his team. This experience served as a training ground for the young goalkeeper to gain team skills.
After this, he made another first appearance on the Serie B Italian club Gubbio, it was during his loan time here that he told fans in a live chat that he would rather stay out on loan than remain a third-choice goalkeeper for Milan although he was hopeful for an extension on his contract.
After major start-ups in other loan clubs which ended in him being relegated to the background, Donnarumma returned to Milan on the 12th of July 2017 where he now had his younger brother Gianluigi as a teammate and signed a 4-year contract with the club. On the 27th of December same year, Antonio made his Milan debut in a derby match between Milan and Inter Milan the two prominent Milanese clubs, an appearance which was made possible due to injuries sustained by the other goalkeepers; Gianluigi his brother and second choice goalkeeper Marco Storari.
Inasmuch as he is still yet to fly the colors of his country, he is tipped to have a great career while his brother, Gianluigi is considered as the likely successor of the great and legendary Italian goalkeeper, Gianluigi Buffon.
