Bru McCoy is a college football wide receiver attending the University of Southern California (USC) and playing for the USC Trojans. He plied the trade back in high school where he played both as a wide receiver and a linebacker with 77 receptions for 1428 yards, and 18 touchdowns and 5 sacks respectively.
According to 247Sports.com, he was the 9th best recruit of the 2019 class. He is a 2018 winner of the U.S. Army Player of the Year Award. And was also named to the 2018 All-American Bowl.

He was born in California, the United States on 22nd June 2000 as one of the three children of Shelby and Horace McCoy ll. He was raised alongside his two sisters Alexa and Ava in Rancho Palos Verdes, California where his family is resident.
He could have attended Palos Verdes High School, but he chose to go to Mater Dei High School in Santa Ana, California. He believed it will increase his chances of playing college football.

Bru McCoy Was Arrested For Alleged Domestic Violence
According to confirmation from the Los Angeles Police Department spokesman, McCoy was picked up on 24th July 20201 at exactly 5:30 p.m. on suspicion of intimate partner violence with injury. The violation was against the California Penal Code section 273.5(a), which applies to an individual who “willfully inflicts corporal injury resulting in a traumatic condition” upon a spouse, former spouse, cohabitant, or dating partner.
He was released the same night he was picked up after a bail of $50, 000 was paid. Furthermore, he was removed from campus for four days and suspended temporarily from playing for the school’s football team (USC Trojans). He filed a petition challenging his removal from the campus and suspension from the football team.
The suit is coming as a result of the school’s failure to present tangible evidence that McCoy posed a threat to anybody. Meanwhile, the LA District Attorney’s office didn’t file any charges against him for lack of sufficient evidence.

1. His Grandmother Nicknamed Him “Bruiser”
when he was 8 months old, his grandmother gave him the nickname “Bruiser”. Subsequently, it was shortened to “Bru”.
2. Transferred To The University of Texas At Austin 17 Days After Enrollment At the University of Southern California
Following McCoy’s graduation from high school, he immediately enrolled at the University of Southern California in January 2019. However, he transferred to the University of Texas at Austin after 17 days. The transfer was sparked by the Trojans offensive coordinator, Kliff Kingsbury’s move to Arizona Cardinals of the NFL as head coach. The WR wasn’t pleased with the move, he saw it as a betrayal.
3. Undiagnosed Symptoms Kept Him Out For Several Months In 2019
After taking part in spring practice with the Texas Longhorns, McCoy returned to USC in June 2019. But he missed several months of the 2019 campaign because of an illness that was never diagnosed.
