Former Minford standout Cain Madden has been described as a talented lineman with quite a couple of honors and titles for his career as an offensive lineman for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.
The 27-year-old athlete excelled not just in football but in track and field while in high school. He is reportedly strong and quick-footed in a short space and that has earned him the nickname, “Dump Truck”.
He Spent His Early Life in Ohio
His mother Flora and father Madden welcomed him on the 23rd day of December 1996 in South Webster, Ohio, the United States.
Cain, 27, attended Minford High School in Ohio. While still in high school, he played on the offensive and defensive lines and took part in other sporting activities like shot put and discus throw.
Following his graduation from high school, the Ohio native accepted a scholarship offer from Marshall University in 2016. However, he was later transferred to the University of Notre Dame in 2021.

2. He Has Plans of Expanding His Knowledge of Leadership Studies
Madden describes himself as an aspiring Business professional as per his LinkedIn Page. His profile was revealed he has the intention of furthering his education in pursuit of a master of arts in Leadership Studies. The athlete plans to acquire more knowledge about Human Resource Management, Grant Writing, and Community Planning.
3. The Offensive Lineman’s Collegiate Career Was Quite Successful
The 27 year-old started his collegiate football in 2016 at Marshall University in Huntington, West Virginia. He spent his first season as a redshirt and started playing on the varsity team as a redshirt freshman in 2017.
After appearing as a redshirt freshman in all 13 games of 2017, Madden earned a spot on the starting line-up at the beginning of the 2018 season. And was also on the starting line-up for the last 9 games of the season after his team lost Alex Mollette to injury.
As a redshirt junior, he started all 13 games, and at the of the season, he was named second all-conference. Madden started 9 out of 10 games as a senior in 2020 and was named to first-team all-conference and second-team All-America honors.
Everyone thought the offensive lineman was going to round up his collegiate career at Marshall University, but, he transferred to Notre Dame University in Notre Dame, Indiana for his final season.

4. He Nas Nicknamed Dump Truck by His Teammates
When Madden was still playing for the Thundering Herd (Marshall University), his fellow Herds nicknamed him ‘Dump Truck’. There could be a whole lot of reasons for the choice of such a name from his teammates.
Some football analysts believe that the defensive lineman plays with leverage, and has the strong base to move defenders off the ball. He knows how to nose tackle defenders, run inside a zone, and his sense of awareness matches his nastiness to get an extra show when he can.
So, his teammates weren’t wrong for nicknaming him.
4. The South Webster Native Was Trolled by Florida State Fans
It is not always an easy task for college footballers in choosing which team to play for. The majority prefer to join teams that would better their talent and improve their skill. Madden found himself at this point when he was choosing which he would spend the last year of eligibility.
When he registered his name in the transfer portal, smokes started flying around that many teams would come seeking him, but it seem he was either heading to Florida State University or Notre Dame. According to reports, the South Webster native made the decision to head to Notre Dame after his visit to Florida State.

The 27 year-old offensive lineman is not related to John Madden. He doesn’t share anything in common with the late American football coach and NFL sports commentator besides his surname. While Cain is from Ohio, John is from Austin, Minnesota.
