Harry Souttar is an Australian international soccer star playing second-tier football in England for Stoke City and the Socceroos of Australia as a defender. The center back began his professional club career with the Scottish soccer side Dundee United before moving to Stoke City in September 2016.
As a young defensive prospect, he needed a place to hone his craft, so he went out on loan to Ross County and Fleetwood Town. After gaining more experience as a loanee, he returned to Stoke City and broke his way to the club’s first team recently.
Internationally, the defender has won the national color of Scotland at the youth level, before making his first appearance for the Socceroos under-23 side, and later the senior side in 2019.

His parents Jack and Heather gave birth to him as Harry James Souttar on the 22nd of October 1998 in Aberdeen, Scotland. He was raised alongside his older brother Jonh Souttar in the village of Luthermuir in Aberdeenshire.
He started his elementary education at Luthermuir Primary School and later enrolled at Mearns Academy in Laurencekirk for his secondary education. Brechin City Boys Club was where he began playing youth football and was later attached to Celtic.
In July 2013, he joined Dundee United academy where he would go on to play for the club’s development team. In 2015, he penned down a deal extending his stay with the club till May 2018.
Stoke City indicated an interest in the young fellow 2 years before the club was relegated from the EPL in 2018. Even though Dundee United turned down 2 bids to buy him in June 2016, news came in August 2016 that an agreement was reached for a fee of £200,000 for his signature.
His move to Stoke City was delayed pending a FIFA approval because he was under 18. He finally made the move, joining Stoke on 29th September 2016 on a 3-year contract, but the fee wasn’t revealed.
He was loaned out to Scottish Premiership club Ross County in January 2018 and later the EFL side Fleetwood Town. And while at Fleetwood Town, the center back won the EFL Young Player of the Month award for February 2020.
Souttar won the man of the match award following his first league appearance for Stoke City in an away win to Preston North End in September 2020. He later clinched the club’s player of the month in October for a couple of impressive displays. This further cemented his place as an important part of Michael O’Neill’s side.
