Reese started his professional American football career way back in the 80s when he started playing for the Lake County Falcons in the 1980 State Champion1 which was a high school football team. Later, Reese also played for the University of Tennessee college team at Martin.
After completing his college degree and owing to his impressive performance while he was playing in the college team, Reese was accepted back into the college team as an executive where he served as an assistant coach. His encounter with team at the coaching level lasted for 8 years which was between 1986–1993
In 2002, Reese got the opportunity to join the New York Giants as a scout. Eventually after five years of hard work and resilience in that capacity, he was then upgraded into the General Manager of the club on the 16th January, 2007 where he took over from the former manager of the team Ernie Accorsi.
Reese became more of the director of Pro Personnel for the New York Giants. Consequently, his 2007 NFL Draft for the Giants, which brought in star players such as Steve Smith Micheal Johnson among others, was very instrumental in helping the Giants into winning their first Super Bowl XLII title in 2008. Their victory did not go without notice as the Giants were invited by the then American President George W. Bush to the White House in order to honour them for their Super Bowl XLII championship.
Reese’s relentless efforts again helped the New York Gaints into winning their second Super Bowl XLVI title in 2011 after defeating their opponents the Patriots.
