Jesus Ferreira is the son of David Ferreira, a former Columbian football player and his wife, Mandy Ferreira. He has two siblings, Santiago Ferreira and Matthew Farreira. The Ferreira family is a strong football family with strong attachment to FC Dallas, a team David played for and his two sons are still playing for.
Aside from this, Jesus was called to play for the US national team at the FIFA 2022 world cup in Qatar.

David Ferreira
Jesus Ferreira’s father is a former soccer player for teams like FC Dallas and Union Magdalena as well as the Colombian national team. During the course of his twenty-year-career which he debuted in 1997, the 45-year old Santa Marta born native garnered many accolades while playing the position of attacking midfielder.
He played for Colombian national team between 2001 and 2008. In his first year with the team, he won the COPA America. In 2010, he was named the MLS MVP.
While with FC Dallas, he sustained an injury in 2011 that would mark the beginning of his decline. After he retured in 2013, he was made the captain as the team entered the 2013 season. Like other years, the team did not win the MLS cup for the 2013 season. Not long after, Jesus’ father soon returned home to Colombia as his contract with FC Dallas was declined.
Since then, the former player has maintained a quiet life as the attention has moved to his son.
Mandy Ferreira
Jesus Ferreira’s mother is also known as Yudelmira. Though she keeps maintains a private life, Mandy has continually supported the family from the background.
Going through Jesus’ social media updates, he makes special posts about his mother who he cites as his inspiration.
This is not surprising considering the fact that she chose to stay with her children in the US when her husband, David Ferreira returned to Colombia to continue pursuing his career in 2014.
Jesus Ferreira Has Two Younger Brothers
Santiago Ferreira
He is the second child of the Ferreira family and another football star. Santiago Ferreira was born on November 4, 2004. He shares a close relationship with his older brother.
Like his brother, he was inspired by his father’s career as he attended his games since when he was a child. From the age of five when the family moved to the States, he became a regular at his fathers games for FC Dallas.
He also joined the club’s Youth academy in 2021. Eventhough, he is yet to launch his professional career as at this writing, so far, he has participated in the North Texas 2022 season.
Away from this, the Ferreira brother’s may one day share the field. His brother, Jesus had hopes of sharing the field with his father. Howvever, this never happened.
Matthew Ferreira
Jesus’ youngest sibling Matthew was born on November 15, 2011, two years after the Ferreira family had moved to the US. At the moment, the Ferreira youngest family member is living quietly.

Jesus started his Youth career at FC Dallas in 2009. He remained with the team till 2016 when he signed a homegrown contract, an agreement signed by players who are drafted from a club’s youth academy to a major league. He caught the attention of many on his debut match when he scored a goal the following year.
However, his pace slowed down and this forced the clud to demote him when they loaned him to The Tulsa Roughnecks in 2018. While there, he gave a stellar performance when he scored 6 goals in 14 matches. This pace continued when he returned to FC Dallas as a starter.
Also, he signed a designated player contract that will keep him with the team till 2025.
2. He Became a US Citizen in 2019
After a decade of moving to the states, Ferreira became a US citizen in 2019. He announced this via an Instagram post in December 2019.

In the past, the striker hoped to play for Colombia team like his father but he was never called up. In fact, he started getting invitations to the US squad when he was just 17 years old.

Since moving to the US, Jesus, his father and his brother, Santiago have all played for the Texas based MLS club, FC Dallas. The older Ferreira, David led the team to its first MLS cup championship in 2011. However, the team came second after losing to the Colorado Rapids.
Moving on, Jesus who joined the club’s youth academy in 2009, few years after his father left. As mentoned earlier, his brother is also on the club’s youth academy.
4. Jesus Ferreira Won the MLS Young Player of the Year 2022
Eversince he launched his professional career, Jesus’ stella performance has set him on a winning track. Notably, he was named the MLS player of the year 2022, a coveted recognition for the top player.
This is not surprisnig as the home grown FC Dallas player netted 18 goals across 33 games during the 2022 season.In addition to this, he also recorded a hat trick and aided the team in their 4-1 victory over the Portland Timbers.
As it is, Ferreira is the second member of his team to be named the MLS young player in two consecutive years. His close friend and team mate Ricardo Pepi was named in 2021.
5. The 24-year-old was Called to the US National Team at the Qatar World Cup
Jesus Ferreira made it to the US men’s national team to represent the country at the 2022 world cup. Previously, the Colombian born had been called up to the US Under-17 and Under-23 squad in 2016 and 2019 respectively.
He made his debut for the USMNT in 2020. He appeared at the team’s the first game against Wales on November 21, 2022.

Away from his time on the field, Jesus Ferreira spends his free time on the a farm that he bought in 2020. Apparently, the MLS forward has dreams of becoming a zoologist after his football career ends. Thus, he uses his free time to rear animals like horses, chickens, and goats.
While being a zoologist is a long time plan for him after his soccer career ends, for now, he is concentrating on soccer.
