Karolína Muchová is a 28-year-old Czech tennis player who won her first WTA Tour title at the 2019 Korea Open after beating Magda Linette in the final. She was born into a family of footballers; with her father and older brother playing the round leather game, but she opted for tennis after her father introduced her to it when she was young. 1. Karolína Muchová Is The Youngest Of Two Children Born To Her Parents

Karolína Muchová was born on August 21, 1996, in Olomouc, Czech Republic, as the youngest of her family’s two children. Her parents Josef Mucha and Hana Muchová gave birth to her older brother Filip Mucha four years earlier on June 4, 1994.

She and her older brother didn’t only grow up together but also share a strong bond as kids and even now as adults.

2. She Was Born Into A Family Of Soccer Players

Karolína Muchová was born and raised in a family of athletes. Her father Josef Mucha was a former professional footballer. Although he didn’t represent the Czech Republic at any level, he played top-tier club football known as “Gambrinus Liga”, and made over 250 appearances in 11 seasons for SK Sigma Olomouc, and FC Tescoma Zlin.

upon retirement, he took a coaching job with a few teams such as HFK Olomouc (manager), Karvina (assistant manager), and Slovacko where he has been serving as assistant manager since 2020.

Similarly, her older brother Filip Mucha followed in her father’s footsteps. He is also a footballer and currently plays as a goalkeeper for Czech First League side Teplice. He joined the club in January 2022 from Sk Prostejov.

3. Muchová Was Introduced To Tennis By Her Father

While she was young, Muchová alongside her brother showed interest in a couple of sports including handball, but she became more passionate about tennis subsequently. The person responsible for her renewed passion for the game was her father who introduced her to it when she was about 7 years old. Besides, it was easy for her to train because there were tennis courts near her family home.

4. She Dumped Handball For Tennis At 12

While she visited the courts near her home to play tennis, it took some time before deciding to stick with it. In 2008 when Karolína Muchová was 12, she abandoned handball for tennis. Years later, the decision proved to be a good one.

5. Karolína Muchová Turned Pro At 17

5 years after taking the decision to play tennis, the 28-year-old turned pro in 2013 at the age of 17. She competed in several events and won her first ITF title in Michalovce, Slovakia in 2014, and a second at Sharm El Sheikh in 2016. In 2017, she made it to the final of the ITS Cup in Olomouc but lost to her fellow compatriot Markéta Vondroušová.

6. The Olomouc-Born Won Her First WTA Title In 2019

At the age of 23, Muchová won her first title on the WTA Tour at the 2019 Korea Open in Seoul, South Korea. To clinch the title, she beat Polish Magda Linette 6-1, 6-1 in less than 70 minutes to pick the first trophy of her career. This was a continuation of her improved performance and incredible form in previous tours where she reached a final in Prague and a Grand Slam quarterfinal at Wimbledon.
