The Bray Bomber as she is fondly called has a very close-knit family. She is pretty close to all the members of her family in different ways. While her relationship with her dad stems from training under him, her mother makes sure her spirituality is top-notch.
Katie Taylor is also known as KT is the last of the four kids birthed by Peter and Bridget but she isn’t the only her sibling who is winning in life. Originally from Birmingham, close to Leeds, England, Peter Taylor who is known as a renowned boxing coach moved to Bray, England. He initially went there to work with his father as he was an electrician by profession.
The job at the village in County Wicklow was at the amusement arcades on the seafront. While working, Peter met Bridget, they fell in love, he decided to remain in Bray, and the rest became history.
Bridget Cranley is originally Irish and was based in England with her parents at the time. Her parents did not have much. In fact, in an interview with Katie, the boxer admitted that her grandparents were very poor and couldn’t afford a lot.
Even her own parents struggled to make ends meet and so she was deprived of most luxuries while growing up. Nonetheless, things changed soon after the union of her parents.
Her father went from being an electrician and arcade worker to being a boxer. In 1986, the same year as the birth of his youngest child, Taylor went on to clinch an Irish senior light heavyweight championship.
Taylor and his wife had four kids together who was born and raised in the County Wicklow town. Their children are named Lee, Sarah, Peter, and Katie. Katie is the last born of the children and she was born on the 2nd of July 1986.

Katie’s siblings are all winning in their individual and personal endeavors. Although the ‘Its4women’ brand ambassador is the most famous of her family members, it does not water down the importance of her siblings.
Peter Taylor’s kids all got enrolled in the University College Dublin. The four Taylor kids first attended St. Kilian’s Community School in Bray. Taylor started college at the UCD but did not see it through as her career came in-between. She however hasn’t registered any regrets about this.
Peter Taylor Jr., Taylor’s older brother graduated with a first-class degree from the University. He has a degree in Mathematical Science and furthered his education by bagging a Master’s degree in Theoretical Physics at Cambridge. He went on to become a professor of Mathematics at Trinity and his alma mater, UCD.
The other of her siblings, Sarah works as a manager and Lee is a reputable businessman. They, just like Katie and her other older brother are doing well in their respected careers.
Katie Taylor’s Family Members are Pentecostals
The Taylor-Cranley family is largely spiritual and believes in God. They are Pentecostals who attend one of the largest Pentecostal denomination churches. The Katie Taylor family members are members of St. Mark Church located in Dublin.
KT stated that her mother prays and lays her hands on her before any big game she has. As long as Bridget is with her daughter, praying is paramount and must be observed. This is a tradition that has remained with them for years.
The boxer often says that she wouldn’t be where she is now if not for God and answered prayers. This obviously means that she is a practicing Christian who is proud of her religious background.
Taylor never fails to attribute her successes to God’s grace and even her losses are believed to be God’s divine will.
Katie Taylor’s Parents Separated
The relationship between Peter Taylor and his Irish wife went sour and eventually led to a separation in 2016. This affected the athlete terribly as she was very close to both parents and the separation put a strain on her.
The last of the Taylor kids moved away with her mother and left her father. Like this wasn’t enough torture for her, she also lost her coach who would never have missed her training and games before.
Peter Taylor was more than a father to Katie because he doubled as her coach. However, he quit being her coach before 2016 citing ‘personal reasons’ when asked why. It is said that the father of 4 initially trained Katie and her brothers in boxing when they were younger. Out of the 3, it was only Katie who picked an interest in the sport.
Upon the separation of her parents, the 38 year old said that being without Taylor felt like losing her right arm. This even affected her performance in 2016 as she was in serious turmoil.
Peter did train a host of other notable names in boxing including Sean Turner, David Oliver Joyce, and Adam Nolan.

Katie Taylor’s dad was Shot at his Bray Gym
The Bray Bomber’s father founded a boxing gym club in Bray and was even funded with 300.000 pounds in honor of his daughter. However, in 2018, he and other trainees at the gym were attacked.
Before 7 A.M on the 5th of June 2018, a covered man entered the boxing club and shot at the people in it. He first shot at a man who eventually died, then shot another trainee and Katie’s dad.
From reports, Peter Taylor and the other man had serious injuries but they were not life-threatening. The two men survived the gunshots while the third man did not. Katie sent her condolences to the family of the deceased who was identified as Bobby Messet.
She however also detached herself from the happening at the club stating that she had nothing to do with it since 2015. Though grateful her father survived, she mentioned that she has been estranged from her father for a while and urged the media to stop attaching her name and images to the attack.
Katie Taylor is not Married nor does she have Kids
Taylor Katie, the undisputed lightweight champion is not in a relationship. She has no known kids either. In fact, in 2019, she told The Irish Mirror during an interview that she was only focused on her career and she was in no relationship.
Katie who was at the time, in American training and focusing on her matches, told the media that she hadn’t the time for a relationship. It seems like she is still all about her career as she is still yet to be linked to anyone, romantically.
However, a Daegu University Instructor who happens to be one of Katie’s hugest fans flew down to Jeju, South Korea in search of the boxer. Kenneth Quillinan, the ardent fan watched Taylor’s semi-final and final matches. After the finals, he trailed her down to the waiting room where he got a chance with the athlete.
Upon getting Katie’s attention, the confident Kenneth then held open a flag that had ‘Katie Please Marry Me!!’ written on it. Underneath the proposal was another message seeking the permission of the father of the Bray-born boxing champion.
Flattered by the proposal, Katie gave Tralee-born Quillinan the response ‘Maybe’ which was translated to a ‘No.’ However, she compensated him by letting him take pictures even with the medal and flower that she had just received.
Katie has nephews and nieces from her sibling’s relationships and marriages. She does not shy away from flaunting her sibling’s kids on her social media. One of her nephews is named Jason Lee King.
