The Italian footballer was born in a small town called Viterbo, Italy on May 1, 1987, to Claudio Bonucci and Dorita Bonucci. He was raised together with his brother, Riccardo Bonucci, a retired footballer since July 1, 2017. His brother also played as a central defender in Serie-C1 with Viterbese. His father owns a paint shop in their town.

Bonucci made his career debut with Viterbese from 2004-2005. Then he moved to Internazionale in 2005. He later spent two seasons on loan at Treviso and Pisa before he joined Bari in 2009. His playing ability and exceptional performances fostered his move to Juventus the next season.

While in Juventus, he became a key member of the team’s 3-man defensive line alongside Giorgio Chiellini and Andrea barzagli making one of the best defenders in the game of football. He won six Serie-A titles with the team between 2012 and 2017.

In 2017, he moved to Milan but still returned to Juventus just after one season. At the beginning of the 2016-2017 season, Bonucci was absent in some selected matches with Juventus and the national team due to his son, Matteo’s illness.

He was fined and exempted from the squad for the first Champions League round of 16 legs on 22 February with Porto. His return to Juventus was a swap deal with A.C Milan involving Mattia Caldara.

He signed a five-year contract until 30^th June 2023. He scored his first goal after his return in a home win over Napoli. He then made his 50^th Championship League appearance on 2^nd October in a 3-0 home win over Young Boys.

He marked his 250^th Serie-A appearance with Juventus, scoring the first goal in a 2-0 away win against Cagliari. He was named captain in place of Chiellini who suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury at the beginning of 2019/2020 season.

At the international level, Bonucci made his career debut in 2010 and represented Italy that same year at the FIFA World Cup and also in 2014. He has played two European Championships in 2012 and 2016 also the 2013 FIFA Confederations Cup where they won the third-place medal.
