Margaret had most of her education pursuit in New Zealand before relocating to Australia. However, it’s not known if she had any formal training before pursuing her career in the music industry.

2. Margaret Urlich Released Her First Solo Album in 1989
Margaret Urlich started off her career as a co-lead vocalist of Peking Man, New Zealand’s new wave band. In 1986, she became part of the all-girl group “When the Cat’s Away” and subsequently moved to Australia to find better opportunities at the age of 23.
Moving to Sydney Australia in 1988, Margaret released her first solo debut album titled Safety in Numbers in 1989 and won an ARIA Awards for Best Breakthrough Artist. The album peaked on New Zealand album charts and No 4 and No. 5 on the Australian album charts.
Margaret became very popular in Australia after performing the Horse with Daryl Braithwaite. The song was said to peak at No.1 in Australia and spent 12 weeks on the chart as part of the Top 10.
