It was in Toledo, Ohio in the United States that Urban Meyer was born on 10 July 1964. He was raised in Ashtabula, Ohio, together with his other siblings by their parents Bud Meyer and Gisela Meyer. He began his education at Saint John High School in the same Ashtabula, Ohio.
It is interesting to note that while he was still in the school, he played both football and baseball.
After his graduation, he proceeded to the University of Cincinnati where he played football as a defensive back as well as baseball for the college teams.
He graduated in 1986 with a degree in Psychology. Immediately after graduation, Meyer took his education further by obtaining a master’s degree in Sports Administration from Ohio State University.
Career Records
Meyer started coaching in 1985 as a volunteer defensive back working with Coach Steve Rasso at Saint Xavier High school in Cincinnati. After gaining more experience, he got his first coaching job as a graduate assistant in Ohio where he coached Tight Ends for two years under head coach Earl Bruce. However, he was the coach of the Illinois State Football team for 13 years, 5 years at Notre Dame, and 3 years at Colorado State as an assistant coach.
Meyer got his first head coaching job with the Bowling Green Falcons football team in 2001 and after spending 2 years, he took another coaching job with the University of in 2003. While there, he led them to win the skyline conference championship and the Fiesta bowl in 2005. Due to his successes at Utah, the universities of both Florida and Notre Dame came rushing for his signature. But, he chose the University of Florida and so he became the head coach of the Florida Gators in 2005 in a contract worth $14 million.
Meyer made history with the Gators, after leading them to 5 championship wins which include one bowl, two BCG National Championships, and two outback bowls. He resigned his position as head coach after the 2010 season and worked briefly for ESPN as a football analyst and commentator. However, he signed a six-year contract with Ohio State Buckeyes in 2011.
While at Ohio, he won the Orange Bowl (2013), the sugar bowl (2014), the fiesta bowl (2015), the Eastern conference championship (2016), and the cotton bowl title (2017.
However, he was given a 3 game ban in 2018, as a result of his knowledge that his former assistant coach Zach Smith was involved in a domestic violence issue with his wife.

Urban Meyer is a husband, father, and grandfather. His wife Shelly Mather was born in Ohio, US on December 25th, 1964. She studied at the University of Cincinnati and graduated with a degree in Nursing.
She had a wonderful relationship with Meyer while in school. And five years after, the two love birds got married in 1986. The union has produced three children, a son named Nathan, and two daughters- Nicole and Gisela.
Nicole is married to Corey Dennis with whom she has a child and expecting a second. However, Gisela is engaged to her long-term boyfriend Brian Pruett. Urban Meyer has been successful both on the field and in his marriage. He has been married for over thirty years now.
