Dmitry Bukhman is a young Russian billionaire who is behind he world’s second-largest gaming company Playrix. The online gaming upstart was kicked off in 2004 by Demitry and his brother, Igor. Together, they turned their passion into profit when they released their first mobile game “Discovera”. Since then, they have recorded loads of success and continue to peak at the top over other game developers.
Today, Playrix Holding Ltd reportedly has 17 offices around the world with over 4000 employees. The company’s headquarters is located in Dublin Ireland. More than that, Dmitry has amassed a wealth of over $8 billion.
Dmitry Bukhman Was Born Into A Jewish Family
Dmitry Bukhman was born Dmitry Anatolyevich Bukhman on May 27, 1985, in Vologda Russia to a Jewish family. With that said, he holds both Israeli and Russian citizenship and he lives between the two countries.
His father was a veterinarian who taught and worked at a meat processing plant, while his mother worked at a ball-bearing factory. After high school, he proceeded to Vologda State Pedagogical University where he studied applied mathematics.
Dmitry alongside his brother Igor started selling games online while in high school. However, in 2004 they officially developed a gaming platform Playrix which stands as the world’s second-largest gaming company today.

Like many successful tech and businessmen, Dmitry and his brother Igor started their business very early in life. They began by selling shareware programs on the internet while still in high school. In 2001, they developed their first game called ‘Discovera’ which earned them $70 in the first month of working from home using a Pentium-100 powered computer that was given to them by their grandpa.
After graduation from the university, Dmitry and his brother created Playrix in 2004. Their major interest was in casual PC downloadable games which were published on portals such as Big Fish Games. In 2006, they developed outstanding games for PC such as Fishdom, Gardenscapes, 4 Element, and Royal Envoy.
Following that, they started working on Free-to-play games in 2009, and in 2012, the brothers launched their first game on Facebook called “dubbed Township” which became one of the 50 high netting games on Facebook reporting about 350,000 active users.
Dmitry Recorded Huge Success When He Switched From PC to Mobile Devices
In 2010, Dmitry and his brother Igor switched from PC to mobile and in 2013, they globally released Township on iPhones which became one of the 50 top-ranking games for iPad and top 100 for iPhones recording over 100 million downloads to date.
Additionally, in 2015, Playrix released its second free-to-play mobile game, “Fishdom: Deep Dive” which gave them an edge over other mobile game developers in Eastern Europe. It was the first game developed by a distributed team.
Playrix’s third mobile free-to-play game ” Gardenscapes” was released in August 2016 and has recorded major success in China and Japan reporting 3.5 million active users.
Today, Playrix has seven mobile games that have recorded huge success in over 50 countries worldwide and they peak at the top 15-50 without varying. The company’s headquarters are in Ireland, The United States is Playrix’s Main market accompanied by China and Japan. They also have over 4000 employees and have about 17 offline offices.

The Bukhman Brothers Got Into A Controversy At The Wake Of The Russia-Ukraine War
Dmitry and his brother found themselves in the muddy waters at the start of the Russian invasion of Ukraine after they were accused of censoring the communication of their Ukrainian workers.
According to reports by some of the workers of their company, all discussion relating to the war in Ukrain and how they could help out were deleted as soon as they dropped by the company on Slack. This attracted the ire of many who felyt that the brothers were complicit.
In their defence, however, they stated that while they do not censor the communciation of their workers or what they shared, they wanted the official platforms of the company to be used only for official business and not for anything else.
